Contributing towards Another Sky Press lets us take on more projects - which is good for everyone. We don’t include operating costs or overhead into our pricing system, which means all sorts of stuff such as web hosting costs, promotion and other costs of doing business come out of pocket. If you like what we’re doing and want to help see us thrive a direct contribution would be great!
The easiest way is via our contribution form or our order form where contributions can be made using Check, Money Order, Paypal, or Google Checkout. The entry for Another Sky Press contributions can be found under the header ‘Other’.
Things we will do with your contributions:
1. Putting out a book is expensive! Due to this, we can only take on so many projects at a time. Then we need to recoup before we can put something else out. Your contributions help make more releases possible, sooner.
2. We like to send out ‘care’ packages to different cities (often to complete strangers that seem cool) - they get some Another Sky Press books (and some classics we think are worth reading) to hand out as they see fit (bookcrossing.com is a site that lets you ‘track’ books as they get passed from person to person). Pretty cool. Problem is, when all is said and done it costs us about $35 per package. And $35 is… well, it’s $35. So - if you’d like to support a care package to a specific city, let us know. We don’t even make anything, but people get to read and it certainly helps spread the word.
3. Many people are tangentially involved with Another Sky Press doing all sorts of pro-bono work. They all rock. It’s nice to be able to buy them lunch, or a coffee, or a reference book. We do this anyway, of course… but know that your contributions let us spread the love all the easier.
4. All this stuff costs money! If we owned the internet, we’d give it all away for free. Promise. But we don’t… so we have all sorts of crazy web hosting fees and such. Add in stuff like promotion, and other stuff we’re not thinking of right now - and, well,your contribution helps tremendously. We’re not going to pull the plug - this is a labor of love… but if you want to help out that would make our day.
