Another Sky Press interviewed on Writer’s Talking

Another Sky Press @ 1:12 pm July 24, 2007

From the Writer’s Talking website:

In an era when more and more musicians are bypassing major record labels for independent methods of distribution, what online and multimedia choices exist for writers who don’t want to align themselves with the giant New York publishing establishment?

Host Matthew Wayne Selznick explores some of the trailblazing alternatives in modern publishing with two pioneers… Evo Terra of Podiobooks.com and Kristopher Young of Another Sky Press.

San Francisco Chronicle Article on Another Sky Press!

Another Sky Press @ 6:20 pm May 17, 2007

We just got a wonderful write-up in the SF Chronicle. It totally made our day. Craig Quackenbush (editor of our hot off the press anthology Falling From the Sky) was referred to as Craig Featherstone, but hey, maybe he’ll just end up changing his name. Mr. Featherstone does have a nice ring to it. Read the article here!

Convention, and an incredible display box.

Another Sky Press @ 3:41 pm May 16, 2007

Chris Roberts and Tom Thompson, two authors in our anthology Falling From the Sky, are going to be representing Another Sky Press at Demicon 18 (May 18-20, 2007 in the Hotel Fort Des Moines), a sci-fi book convention in Des Moines, Iowa.

And… check out the AMAZING convention display box Chris Roberts made for the Another Sky Press table!

Chris Roberts also did the cover for the anthology. Pure talent. Thanks!

Click is continuing to get rave reviews like this one in Mungbeing magazine! To celebrate, we’re having a give-a-giveaway (™!). Just tell us why someone you know (that is, other than yourself!) should get a signed copy of Click. We will pick four (maybe more?) of our favorite submissions and send out copies either directly to them, or to you to give to them.

I’m officially not a robot!

kristopher @ 12:25 pm December 12, 2006

At least, according to this interview.

That’s my first official interview! It’s mostly about Another Sky Press.

… and someone else is currently doing a Click related interview which I’ll post about when it goes live.

I’m a little biased, but I think both are pretty interesting — I know I thought the questions were great and I loved having a chance to answer them.

Yours,
Kristopher

“…the author has pulled off a rare and amazing literary feat: he has crafted a work that is highly personal and gut-wrenchingly real, yet surreal, dream-like and convincingly fantastic. The novel is both intuitive and masterful in execution, and in this regard it shares more with the spirit of modernist painting than it does with postmodern literature. Young speaks to us in a voice that is authentic and thoroughly lacking in pretension.”

So Mungbeing magazine just reviewed Click. They’re an amazing magazine that covers the outsider, the fringe, the bizarre. They’ve had interviews with Robert Anton Wilson, Billy Childish, Alex Grey, Gus Fink and more… quite simply, they are an amazing resource. The second I discovered them I sent in a copy of Click for review. And they not only did a review, but they also loved Jesse Reno’s artwork (my friend, and outsider artist who did the cover for Click) so much that they did a spread on his artwork too!

In a bizarre case of synchronicity, they also reviewed author Gina Ranalli - who I just met a few days ago on Myspace (randomly) and did a book trade with yesterday.

Make sure you check out Jesse’s art (in this month’s magazine, linked from sidebar) and then the rest of the issue, and then the back issues. Amazing! (You can find more of Jesse at his site)

(Can you tell I’m riding high from reading that review? It made my week… no, my month!)

September Another Sky Press Annoucements!

Another Sky Press @ 11:48 am September 26, 2006

Hi all! Here’s the Another Sky Press announcement for September…

Marriage!

Kristopher (author of Click) and Christine (math and shipping genius) are getting married!!! The date is yet to be set, but they will be wed in Portland, Oregon sometime next summer. Congrats and Best Wishes may be sent direct to kristopher@ and christine@ this domain (anothersky.org).

The Riot Lit Collective

Kristopher Young has joined forces with a number of other amazing writers and they have created the Riot Lit Collective. Check their site out at http://www.riotlit.com as well as their collective blog.

Outside the Lines

Our second release is an amazing coloring book by famed outsider artist Jesse Reno titled Outside the Lines. It’s beautiful. Check it out!.

Outside the Lines Coloring Contest!

Here’s the deal: There are three categories: 1) Crayons, 2) Mixed media, and 3) Free for all (impress us). You don’t need to rip a page out of your book - coloring a copy is just fine by us. Submissions can be made by mail or email (scans). Entries will be judged on June 1st, 2007 (giving everyone plenty of time to get their crayons out). The 3 winners will each receive an original sketch from the coloring book!

Falling from the Sky

Falling from the Sky, our first short story Anthology, is coming together nicely. We already have a large pile of stellar submissions but are still accepting submissions till the end of this month while the editor, Craig Quackenbush, reads through them all. This is a completely pro-author venture, aimed to bring exposure to authors. More info here.

We expect to release Falling from the Sky in early 2007.

Click

Click, our first release, is receiving great reviews. Here’s just one:

“…a compelling genre-bending piece of fiction with a great hook. Click embodies the grit-lit of the streets, an element of science fiction and a smattering of a thriller, a picture of a man at war with the
world and with himself, right until the final pages when the last click comes ‘harsh and loud and true.’” - Susan Tomaselli, editor, Dogmatika Litzine

…but we can always use more, so if you loved Click please: tell your friends! review it on Amazon! We don’t have the marketing budget of major publishers so we rely on word of mouth… grassroots requires you.

You can read Click online in a variety of formats, including as a downloadable PDF. We also hear Click makes a great present for winter reading…

Thank You!

Thank you, all of you, for helping to make all of this worthwhile. Your kind words and support are fully appreciated.
