This is a nice, short article from Publisher's Weekly regarding a Web publishing panel at the currently going-on Book Expo America:

http://www.publishersweekly.com/article/CA6565197.html?desc=topstory#2

Fray.com publisher Derek Powazek says something very interesting; just another example of ASP being at the forefront of the free-media trend:

Publishers must embrace that new generation of “people who come to media expecting participation.” They must look at publishing books as creating relationships with people, “not just ink on paper.”

Hey-

Thanks for getting this thread started, it was a nice way to meet you all. I am kind of late on this but I hope you guys will read it.

I discovered Another Sky through reading the Chuck Palahniuk website and heard they were doing some great things. I read Click, which by the way Kris, was f'n real. After reading Click, I decided that I would try to be a part of something great like this and submit some of the material I have been working on lately. Still haven't heard back, but we'll see.

I am 24 years old and believe or not I am a Big Four Accountant from the East Coast of the states. I have been writing feverishly of late. I wrote mostly screenplays in college but I feel a novel is a more direct form of getting my message out. I travel all over the country every week for my job, so the material is of constant flow. I am basically trying to get my start and am writing in the mass amount of time my firm gives me to study for the CPA exam. Oops! I was looking for a place to submit some work and found this.

It would be nice to get to know you all.

Best,
Chuck has his own voice - that's inarguable - and he uses it recurrently in each novel. I like it because it's unique and carries a, hmm, "contemporary appeal." As if it's some sort of post-modern slang or method of speaking. BUT, what happens is, he can tend to overuse that voice.

I recently finished Chuck's newest, Rant (review at Dogmatika: http://dogmatika.com/dm/books_more.php?id=2616_0_3_0_M) and came to this exact same conclusion, though I suppose a few books later than you did, Craig. Chuck seems to be exploiting his own voice after so many novels. Can't say I blame him, it seems to be working for him. And it gets people reading.

Hi Michele. Welcome to Another Sky. Hope you like what you've seen. Another Sky is on the cusp of the future. I was explaining the concept to an acquaintance the other day, and when I listened to myself, I realized that the Press truly is the "wave of tomorrow." Details on that if anyone desires, but by spending time here, you should already know. Please, post at will, keep abreast of updates, add to our collective writing project(s), and let us know what you think. All constructive advice is welcome.
Happy New Year to all. Resolutions? Hmm. To quit with the libations is not an option. So, to write. I have two potential novels in the embryonic stage, one quite personal, and the other a cyberpunk kind of thing. To spread the good word of real writing by real writers. To implement ideas for upcoming Another Sky projects. To find a new job that only requires the usual forty hours, and also gives me health benefits since I haven't found a way to age backward yet. To find a way to curtail my violent impulses when confronted with mouth-breathers, warmongers, and socio-parasites. To withold same impulses when dealing with those who want to regulate every aspect of life and shred personal freedom. To find a good beer under $5.00 a pint at bars in Manhattan.

I'm a tad late on this topic but heck here I go.

I knew I wouldn't manage 50K words, so I just wrote as much as I could. The end result is quite satisfying, 11,500 words of "chassé-croisé" between Montréal, Paris, Tokyo and Brooklyn, a hectic journey into alley and cemetary land, hum yummi.

I think it would be great for another release at ASP (hint, hint :) but it's in French for now.

If you manage some French, it's on my blog at http://lkm696.blogspot.com and it's called "Ell&Il" which means "She & He", I've just taken out the last E of Elle because... well read it :)
