Michael W. Dean, director of the documentaries DIY or Die! D.I.Y. OR DIE: How To Survive as an Independent Artist and ‘Hubert Selby Jr.: It/ll be better tomorrow’ and author of the $30 Film/Writing/Music School series of books turned us on to bookcrossing.com (our user name is ‘anothersky’). It’s a fantastic site that allows people to put books out in the wild and track them. Basically, you put a label on a book, and give it to a friend or leave it at a coffeeshop. Each person who finds it can log in, say where they found it, review it, and then passes it along to somebody new.

We think that’s a great idea, so we put 10 copies of Click into bookcrossing circulation. Five were handed out at Wordstock, one copy was given to somebody at the Red & Black Cafe, two were handed out during the Last Thursday artwalk in Portland, one was sent to a friend to hand out in NYC, and the last will be sent for free to the first person who asks for it. All we ask is that if you dig it, you spread the word.

another joke.

Last night was the Last Thursday artwalk in NE Portland. We handed out two bookcrossing copies of Click and a bunch of bookmarks.

There was a little kid, maybe ten, selling jokes for a quarter. I gave him 36 cents and told him to make it good. and this is what he said:

Q:why don’t blind people go skydiving?

(wait for it…)

A:because it scares the hell out of the dog!

It was totally worth every penny. I’m not sure if it’s politically correct, so if you’re blind and were offended while reading that joke… we apologize. Blame the kid. He’s the potty mouth.

News you can abuse.

This is where we’ll post stuff that has pretty much nothing to do with Another Sky Press - but that we think is worth a look.

Our first contribution.

On April 9, 2006, one day after we launched, we received our first contribution. Thank you.
